My 10 week old golden retriever is really cute, and sweet. I love her a lot, but about 3 or 4 times a day she just goes into these chewing modes where she bites everyone in our house cause she wants something to chew on. She bites our ankles, hands and whatever she can reach. We tell her NO! or NO BITE! but it doesnt work. Last night she riped a hole in my jeans. I'm taking her to a puppy class at petsmart on sunday, but I want to know how to help her with her problem. We often give her toys to chew on, but then she drops it and goes for us again.

All answers welcome!

She is teething, just like any baby! you are doing the right thing offering her a chew toy. Make sure you praise her when the toy is IN her mouth. Unfortunately, this can go on until 6 months of age. I have a 5 month old German Shephard puppy. He is doing well. The diverting the attention and then giving praise has helped us A LOT! My hands and arms had teeth marks all over them! He had completely stopped the chewing and my "love bites" have completely healed. Unfortunately, he has been losing his baby (or "milk") teeth, and has occasionally begun the chew thing again. At this point a simple "NO" works.

Just make sure she has plenty of toys and praise her when you give them to her.

Good luck.

Try bones or cow hide toys. Also put her in a naughty corner like the bathroom for a while. if you squeeze her cheeks between her teeth she will find out how much she is hurting when she bites. Good Luck

She is probably teething (period when pups develop their permanent teeth). Give her a lot of toys of different shapes and sizes. When you see her chewing something you don't want chewed, get it and replace it with a toy.

Get some chew sticks and play with her with the chew sticks, like fetch, tug of war.....
