The Bible mentions oxen and asses because those were the tools of THAT time. Computers and other things are the tools of TODAY. Jesus never said that we could not progress as a society.
FYI - The Amish do use farming techniques and ideas that were not available in Biblical times. They just chose to stop progressing around the 1600s.

The Amish are righteous, and holy, and write their ticket to heaven through their sacrifice of the modern world. It would have been better for the world if it had sacrificed the depravity in the media, and in society. Now is the time of redemption, and damnation. Every eye will see him, and the earth will wail because of him.
Was no one surprised by the Amish Schoolhouse massacre last October? Who could be more innocent than this community? This shows the non-existence of rapture, as the innocent will be tried with the guilty. All would be better off if they gave up their belief of being taken up without trial. After all, so many "Christians" have fallen from the vine that they no longer see the vine.
He that hath an ear to hear, let him hear.

the same reason everyone else does... to download porn...
Seriously though, just because athiests embrace science to the exclusion of spirituality does not mean that the practicioners of other religions (including Christians) need to embrace their religion to the exclusion of science. Not everyone's religious strictures are so tight.
As for the Amish...
You should talk to a few. I grew up in a rural area, and about half of my neighbors were Amish. They do not eschew technology because it is in and of itsself evil or sinful, or because there is no mention of it in the bible, but because they believe many technological devices would lead them to sin. Owning and using a tractor, for instance, would tempt a man to farm more land than he needed, thus causing him to commit the sin of greed.

A star awarded to you.
The Amish are the few religious sects that I respect because they don't use technology.

Because I'm intelligent enough to realize my faith is one thing, science is another.
But, some atheists rely on science to somehow cancel out religion.

You just have to find something to provoke with, don't you? So atheists are the only ones who deserve to use science and technology? You can thank your God for the brains you do have to enable man to invent all these things. All gifts are from the Father, even if you don't want to acknowledge it.

Good question.
The other day I heard some people commenting about how good faith is and all the horrors come from science and technology... based on data from science and technology!

why don't you use spell check?(scientist invented it so you should be safe)
why do you use algebra it was made by religious(stop using anything that requires algebraic algorithms [that computer]), why do you use optical technology it was invented by religious people?
as you can see religion doesn't go against science, (Islam doesn't and I don't believe other religions do either)
