This is an opinion.
It depends.....
Killing yourself can be done for many reasons and in many ways.
A Martyr for the faith OK.
A truly insane person probably is only accountable up to the point that they became truly insane. To the extent that their sins may have contributed to their own slide into insanity they may still be held accountable for those sins.
A person who rejects Christ and his promise for eternal life and who also rejects God's gift of the present life is in deep deep trouble. This is the ultimate rejection of God.
A terminally ill Christian in great pain who takes a lethal injection with a prayer for forgiveness on their lips would be welcome in my heaven if it were up to me. And somehow I can't imagine God being less loving and forgiving than I am. Particularly after reading about how Jesus prayed for God to forgive those who crucified him. [Sorry if this offends the hard liners, but it is my opinion]
My condolences on your loss.

The only unforgivable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, it's in the bible. And as far as my understanding is, Jesus forgives you of all your sins in one shot, past, present and future, so having to ask for forgiveness of your sins after you commit them is more of a Catholic mindset, not Christian biblical doctrine. And I agree with batgirl2good; a person who commits suicide is not in their right mind and is not held accountable for their actions in the same way. If a person has entered the love of god, my understanding is that the love of god is unconditional. I believe that your friend is in heaven. I hope that you can achieve an understanding on the topic to ease some of the pain.

Hi, Mumble. First, some biblical evidence, and then a way of thinking about suicide.
Jesus taught that living up to God's basic commandments is a prerequisite for heaven. Matthew 19 tells of a rich young man who asked Jesus, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?" Jesus said, "If you want to enter life, obey the commandments," including "Do not murder."
Suicide is self-murder, which rules out eternal life. With nearly any other sin, you can ask forgiveness. But with suicide, the dead person doesn't have any chance to ask forgiveness.
How can we understand suicide? God gave us each of us life, the most wonderful birthday present we will ever receive. He made us with complex biological systems, including a brain that can think about God. He gave us spring flowers and a night sky filled with stars. He made us in his own image, with freedom and the capability of love.
If we destroy this gift of life, we say no, finally, ultimately, to our Creator and to the destiny of life with him that he planned from our first moment of life.
I know many people don't like to think in these harsh terms. In truth, we can't completely rule out life in heaven because God is merciful and can recognize a repentant heart even after a suicidal act has been made, before death. Too, suicide has to be understood as the ultimate act of insanity, self-destruction, and insanity implies diminished capacity. Thus, we can hope against hope.
I am very sorry for your friend, and for you. I hope you will remember him by bringing the message of life to those who live on.
Sincerely,
Bruce

If you - or for that matter the person in question - does not believe in a faith that encompasses 'heaven', you have a different situation form those who do believe.
Many things in Life are a matter of Faith, and your Belief. That includes if you believe what others tell you.

There is no Biblical proof that I know of, but my opinion is that someone who commits suicide is not in his/her right mind and is not responsible for his/her action in doing that. So I think that a Christian who commits suicide will go to Heaven.
I am sorry about your loss. Please accept my sympathy.

Murder, Suicide, and Illicit Gains Prohibited
[4:29] O you who believe, do not consume each others' properties illicitly - only mutually acceptable transactions are permitted. You shall not kill yourselves. GOD is Merciful towards you.
[4:30] Anyone who commits these transgressions, maliciously and deliberately, we will condemn him to Hell. This is easy for GOD to do.
[4:31] If you refrain from committing the gross sins that are prohibited for you, we will remit your sins, and admit you an honorable admittance.

No such thing as biblical proof (bit harsh i know) but i can give you my opinion.
I personally don't think they go to heaven. They don't deserve it. They took the selfish and easy way out. What about all the people they left behind?

they are making you debate THAT in college? nicely, you're screwed, considering that there is not any point-headed logical reason against it. additionally, I fail to verify how gay suicide could be a controversy against gay marriage. If something, gay marriage could decrease gay suicide, by way of fact it might practice gay those that society is taking off to settle for them.

If you commit suicide, you do not go to heaven because you are killing yourself and that is an unforgivable sin! In other words you are murdering yourself!

I would have to say no, they do not go to heaven. I think you have to ask forgiveness of your sins. Since you cannot ask for forgiveness after you have killed yourself the logical answer is no.
