i hope to get a digicam soon, but i don`t know which one to get. I want a camera that is light and handy, it should have a good picture quality and photographs taken should be easy to upload to a computer

All of the major brands are good. Choose a brand that appeals to you. Then you have to think about getting a spare battery, what size memory card, if you want an extended warranty, how much you can afford, what size zoom, if you want manual controls, the size of the camera, finding a reliable place to purchase it, and the list goes on and on and on.......

The first thing to realize is that almost any digital camera will take good pictures. If more people would read the manual more than once, they would be able to take better pictures. Usually, the person assumes it is the camera when it could be them not knowing exactly what to do. Just give yourself more photographic knowledge by doing more reading on the internet.

I really believe buying a camera is an individual choice.
The person needs to read alot of reviews on cameras so they can decide on the features that they really want and need.
Go to the store and hold them so you can see if they feel comfortable in your hands. If possible, take some pictures in the store to check the quality of the pictures.
I can only give a suggestion of what to look for in a new digital camera.
Good Luck

I used to have a Nikon. It was inexpensive, but it still took amazing shots, especially for a point-and-shoot. And it was really easy to upload.

My second camera (another point-and-shoot) was a Kodak Easyshare. You have to be more careful with those, but if you actually go and maybe play with some that they have in the stores, you can find one that you actually really like. That's the only way you can really find a decent camera that jives with what you need, not what everyone else tells you is important.

Most cameras (especially the point-and-shoots) will come with some kind of cable (USB or Firewire) that will allow you to upload the pictures to your own computer. However, since most cameras require some sort of SD card (or some other flash memory card), it might be good to invest in a USB or Firewire card reader (or some computers nowadays already have them built in). It creates more storage to take lots of pictures, but it also makes it a lot easier than transporting cables from here to there.

Just do some research. Like I said, I used to have a really decent Nikon and currently use an inexpensive Kodak Easyshare, both of which actually take decent shots. But play with some of the different brands you read about here, go to Wal-Mart, even, and play with their selection, and just check out what they have. It's the best way to find a camera you really like.

Take a good hard look at the canon powershot cameras. The "A" series with image stabilization are great. Read the reviews on them thoroughly. Good luck!
