As a Christian, I look for the candidate that would NOT legislate based on his or her religion. The separation of church and state must stand. This nation is entirely too diverse in our religions to allow any one sect to govern based on THEIR holy book.
Would Jesus be for or against wars? I imagine that He would probably weigh the factors and consequences--just as you or I would--to form an opinion. He may have been the Son of God, but he wasn't out of touch with reality.

All I want, and never get, in a politician is HONESTY. I want one politician in my lifetime to promise something and then do it, not get to Washington or the state capital and do the same old thing that's always been done. I want someone to represent ME, not big business and foreign country policies. I want someone to put the US first and everyone and everything else second. I don't think that's too much to ask.
War. Osama was behind 9/11. He's still out there as evidenced by the new tape released today. That was the entire idea. Get the people who attacked us! But, no. George W. Bush had to go over and get Saddam because he wanted revenge for Saddam trying to kill his daddy. And that is what I believe is the truth about the invasion of Iraq. I want our troops to either turn back to hunting down the 9/11 terrorists, or to come home. Let Iraq take care of Iraq. Saddam is dead.
Jesus said there would always be wars. Whether or not He was pro or con, I don't know. Maybe I'll ask him one of these days!

What scriptures have always had a bearing on the attitude of true Christians toward involvement in political issues and activities?
John 17:16: “They are no part of the world, just as I [Jesus] am no part of the world.”
John 6:15: “Jesus, knowing they [the Jews] were about to come and seize him to make him king, withdrew again into the mountain all alone.” Later, he told the Roman governor: “My kingdom is no part of this world. If my kingdom were part of this world, my attendants would have fought that I should not be delivered up to the Jews. But, as it is, my kingdom is not from this source.”—John 18:36.
Jas. 4:4: “Adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever, therefore, wants to be a friend of the world is constituting himself an enemy of God.” (Why is the matter so serious? Because, as 1 John 5:19 says, “the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.” At John 14:30, Jesus referred to Satan as being “the ruler of the world.” So, no matter what worldly faction a person might support, under whose control would he really come?)

The Lord puts in our hearts and minds what we are to do. Oh my, I sin so much with talking against President Bush. I try to keep my mouth shut but the duct tape gets wet and comes off, my mouth opens, and nasty words come out. Christians are not perfect. When I go to the polls, I pray all the way until the last issue is voted on. The only way I live is to just pray and have faith. If what I do is wrong, the right outcome will happen anyway.

As long as the politicians stay out of my wallet, I don't care what their religion is.
As for the war, I am a veteran myself, and I hope they come home soon. I've already lost friends over there, and a few more are shipping out in October. I'm for the war in the sense it's been a long time coming that someone took it to those religious whackos and mudstomps their sorry asses. What other option or strategy is available to deal with those religious nutjobs? Harsh language?

I would rather have a Christian in office...
Most of our presidents have been Christian...
A Christian would have moral values therefore
would not lie, or cheat....
At least a true Christian...
Some politicians say they are Christian just to get our vote then when they get in office you find out they obviously are not Christain!
All the issues are important, but with a conscience issues would be handled correctly...
My stance on the war is I would rather have the fight over there than here....
That has always been my stance and always will be...
Jesus is the same as His Father...If you read the OT you will see there were many wars and God led them....
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!!! :)

Yes, in my voting I make sure the candidate feels as srongly on the same issues that I do religiously and politically. I have some one in mind already.
I used to be against the war only because my son is serving and I'm selfish. But now I see Islam terrorist as a global threat and I think we should all unite together and wipe them from the earth.
I know in the Old Testament that God made wars happen and I think He still does.

Gulf spill is a lot worse, for our surroundings, jobs and tourism in that section. Israel , if human beings fairly have been courageous adequate to confess it, or freedom of speech substitute right into a actuality, has no longer mattered to lots of the planet for some years. that's in user-friendly terms a tiny whining state that's in no way chuffed and continually has a hand out.

I personally cannot see Jesus ever taking up a weapon against another person. He healed the soldier whose ear was cut off in the Garden of Gesthemene and told Peter not to take up the sword against them.
Regarding Politics, as a Christian, I believe that we want to make a better future for our next generation. To me, that means not creating a huge national debt and to take steps to eliminate the debt (something our President has no clue about).
I also feel that our military is to be here to protect the US not to be handling the military conflct on practically every continent in the world. We are currently in Latin America (Colombia), Asia, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and of course North America. Our first priority is to protect our nation, not to use our military to protect our "national interests" overseas. I just don't see that as a Christian that using weaponry is the right tactic to pursue peace.
Finally, if we are to do anything, we as a country need to invest in our future generation. That means to educate and prepare our future generations to be successful and productive adults.

Generally, "Christians" tend to lean towards the Republican Party and the "Liberals - atheist" tend to lean towards the Democratic Party.
Republicans tend to be viewed as straight-laced and very conservative...they value the sancitity of life and less government is more!
Democrats are for a woman's right to choose and want the government to be involved in more and more aspects of our life!
Either way, for the primaries, find someone you agree with and go from there.
Good Luck!
