Here's some Old English:

"Hwæt! We Gardena in geardagum
þeodcyninga þrym gefrunon
hu ða æþelingas ellen fremedon."

Complaining about masses in Latin is one thing, but isn't it just a wilful celebration of ignorance to claim you can't understand the KJV?

In case anyone was wondering:
"Listen! We --of the Spear-Danes in the days of yore,
of those clan-kings-- heard of their glory
how those nobles performed courageous deeds. "

It's the opening lines of Beowulf.

The King James Version of the Holy Bible is unendingly beautifully written. Of course it isn't 'old' English, it's quite modern English that was given life by several dozen of the best London writers during the reign of a Scotsman, James I, the son of Queen Mary of Scotland and a chap whose inkling for his own species was, and still is, wildly known. In short, Fundy homophobes, he was gay. But to the point, and vastly more important, the great London playwrights and poets whose pens were put to use, did the Protestant arm of Christianity a tremendous favor. If it were 'Old English,' it would be virtually unreadable today.

Obviously, anybody who's ever read any Old English would not suggest that the KJV Bible is written in Old English.

My Bible is KJV that is also a study Bible. It breaks the verses down a little more and makes it easier for me to understand it.

The 1611 King James Version is not classical English as you just posted but it is much different than what we read now.
