Hi i am getting certified in life saving and i have type one diabetes. I am curious to whether i can be a paid life gaurd?

you can do anything you want to do.do not let diabetes slow you down. all you have to do is keep you blood sugar under good control. make sure you keep snacks and check your blood often. good luck.

Yes you can be a paid life guard. There is no reason you can't be one. Diabetes has nothing to do with being a paid life guard.

Yes, you can be a paid life gaurd. I attended camp for 4 years and there all the lifeguards there were diabetics. They were lifeguards there and at their hometown..

if you are able to perform all the tasks required without putting anyone at risk because of high or low blood sugar then go for it .
your instructor for certification should be able to tell you if there is any federal or state restriction on specific conditions , like diabetes.

No reason why you can't.
I'm a type 1 (I use a pump) and I'm an EMT (emergency medical technician).
If you use a pump, make sure it's either a waterproof one or take it off before you jump in the water.

It is against the law to discriminate against someone on the basis of a disability that will not affect their performance.
Actually, it's none of their business what maladies you suffer from. And HIPA laws prevent anyone from discussing your health with anyone without your express permission.
