There is a crack on the inside corner of my microwave. It's (only) about 5 years old and cost me about $400 at the time. (I guess I had to just add that last useless bit of info).

It doesn't go all the way through or anything... it's just through the white interior. Is it really that bad?

Based on the article "Fun things to do with Microwave Ovens", I would have to say no, you do not HAVE to buy a new microwave. However, being a mom and a prudent person, you might wish to choose to purchase a microwave oven tester which will tell you if you microwave is leaking like the proverbial dam without a finger. Which is where the danger lies with microwave ovens... usually.

If you would like to read the same article I did, you will find the link below. I do recommend visiting the necessary first and emptying your bladder as you could be injured should you touch the microwave while you foot is in the puddle that forms under your chair as you read his opus.

Definitely. Cracks mean the safety of the liner is GONE

New microwaves are less expensive, faster and now you can get a microwave that is also a convection oven

Don't take the chance!!!!!

Get a new microwave, just to be safe. $400 for a microwave???? If you don't have a problem paying that much, then getting another should be no problem.

It's probably a good idea to get a new one, you don't want your kids to get cancer and always wonder. And a $400 dollar microwave, does it dance while it cooks? Yeah, I'd get a new one and you can find good priced ones at like target and stuff now.

Not knowing for sure if it is safe or not, I would just buy a new one. Maybe one that wasn't so expensive.

I'm sure it's fine. If it doesn't go all the way though then nothing will get out.
