Herpes doesn't affect a person's immune system like HIV/AIDS does.
Having herpes will have NO effect on how long you live. 75 - 80% of the WORLD has cold sores (oral herpes), while about 25% of the world has genital herpes. BILLIONS of people have the herpes virus and they are living just as long as they would have if they didn't have the virus.
Just take your diagnoses a day at a time and you'll be just fine! You have nothing to worry about, trust me!

Your doctor should have told you this is not fatal!! You will live a very normal life in fact as much as 70% of the population will have some form of herpes by age 40. Your not alone. When the immune system is compromised then you are more likely to have an outbreak but not always. Many people have the first outbreak and never have another. Others have the virus and never have an outbreak. Then there are the unlucky ones who have many outbreaks each year but usually they become less frequent the longer you have the virus. Your doctor can give you an Rx to suppress the virus. You know the comercials for valtrex and there is a great cream called zoverax to help with the iching and pain when you do have an outbreak. Remember you can pass this to your sexual partners even if you do not have any signs of an outbreak so always disscuss this with your partner and use condoms every time whether is oral or otherwise. Good luck! Youll live a long life but you need to be safe when sexually active!!!!! RN

Herpes is the same as cold sores - it is a bit of a nuisance but will not affect you adversely really and will certainly not alter your life span! My grandma got cold sores and lived to 93.
It is just a skin virus which stays dormant in your body and pops up every now and then. Not a big deal. Admittedly it is a bit of a pain when you are getting a cold and suddenly a couple of blisters pop up on your genitals but they are gone in a few days and that is as far as it goes. Really, don't worry about it.
As for why it happened, it happened because herpes simplex types 1 and 2 are incredibly common viruses and it is the normal human state to have one or the other.
On average, 1 in four women and 1 in 5 men have hsv-2, and 8 out of 10 people are infected with hsv-1. By middle age, 95% of people have hsv-1 and 30-40% have hsv-2. These things just happen.
It isn't because you are 'dirty', it isn't because you have slept around, people can catch herpes as virgins or from their first and only partner and regardless of whether they use protection or not. If you want to lead a normal human life including having sex that is a risk you take and some of us are just a bit more unlucky... but it isn't the end of the world.

Herpes is not fatal. (HIV/AIDS is the one that affects your immune system).
However, it is not curable either. Herpes sores may come back to you for all of your life. So you have a responsibility to inform any sexual partners of this condition. There are medications on the market to ease the recurrences of the disease. You are not contagious when your herpes is not active.
So although herpes is an unpleasant thing, it won't affect your life greatly if you take care of yourself and get informed.
You should really be addressing these questions to a doctor, though. (Which I'm not).

I got clinically diagnosed with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about six years ago, when I was still attending college and had a stupid one-night stand. I just made a massive mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date guys again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores around her you-know-what? But since a friend shared this video everything changed https://tr.im/TreatmentsHERPES2015I4lG
Not only was I able to clear away all traces of the hsv from my body in less than 21 days, but I was also able to begin dating once more. I even met the man of my dreams. This method provided me the opportunity to be happy and experience real love. Now I want to enable you too by sharing this with the whole World.

Having herpes is not going to make you die. You will die from aids (HIV). I hope you tested yourself for all STD's including HIV. There are antiviral medications that will control herpes outbreak. Herpes can spread without having the "bumps". This is why you did not see any on your partner. Now you need to concentrate on reducing your stress and taking your medication. Many people are infected with herpes and are living with it. Remember to always use a condom.

Your no longer going to die from this. It happens to many individuals.. And think it or now not herpes is more and more common now a days which is very sad but very real. That you would be able to reside a protracted and healthful existence but there is a treatment which you could take to preclude the outbreaks from going down a lot. It will certainly not go away but the medicine helps from reoccuring outbreaks that you might have.
