The one that stays at home, right under your nose, telling you how much they love you all time, thank you, thank you, thank you, you are the most wonderful parent, ever, ever, ever!!!?

Or the one who goes out and makes his/her own way, Is strong, smart, uses the brain you gave them to discern right and wrong, doesn't ask you for stuff all the time, and makes something of themselves without your help?

machpen; It is meant to show the difference between Christains and Atheist. (I know I am leaving many out)
If there is a God he loves all his creations. I think he would be proudest of the ones that are most like him. (((Strong)))

Ibrahim; I have 8 children. Each one of them loves me, but they know how to live because of how I live. I am with them always, even when they are not with me. Yet they have seen me, felt me, Known me. I am the proudest of the ones who use what I gave them. and disipointed in the ones who try to please me by kissing my butt.

As salaamu 'alaikym , my friend.

Insha'Allah, I have only one daughter so perhaps the answer is simpler for me in real life.

We both express our affections for one another daily and we both say "please" and "thank you", as well as "you are welcome".
I often tell her that she is the most wonderful daughter in the world and she will tell me that I the best daddy ever.
I have also worked to help her learn how to make wise choices that prove beneficial to herself and to all others. She is responsible, caring, compassionate, kind, thoughtful, creative and very aware.

She appears to the best of both of the choices you offer.
Insha'Allah, perhaps I have done well in assisting her in her development.

Alhumdulillah!

Ma'a salaam.

I'd probably consider the second to have more character, but if the first one is younger, maybe he/she hasn't developed a character yet. You have to consider gender and age. And even though you say that hypothetically you love them both, I still think you're establishing preferential treatment over the second one. You might love them both, but you clearly love the second one a little more, maybe because you see yourself in him/her?

I'm torn with this question, because I saw the effect that my mother's preferrential treatment over my sister, had on me.
It honestly f@#ed me up. I truly hope this is strictly a hypothetical question.
