my father is a diabetic and was recently put on a diabetic diet, but there is one problem. He takes like sugar in his coffee, is there any good sub statue. I heard once that diabetics shouldn't take sweet and low, but other than the i only know about splenda sugar product. anyone know a good sugar alternative that my dad can use in his coffee?

Splenda should be fine. Here's a link with details of Splenda for diabetics and how they should count it toward their total carb count. A single packet is considered 'free' because it has insignificant carbs.

Sweet and Low has been around for ages and no one has died from it yet. Only rats because they fed them 500 times more that what they would normally eat. Splenda is very good and Equal tastes great. He can have regular sugar but let's face it, empty calories and takes away from the carb and calorie count for his meals. Try any of those. Splenda is mhy favorite.

I use artificial sweeteners (liquid or tablet) but there is fructose(fruit sugars) But he must stop using normal white sugar
Brown sugar is less bad ,some use a little honey but it can be high if used to much,
Talk to a chemist or doctor if unsure

i would recommend equal. my family and i have used it for years. i prefer it over splenda.

stevia it is a herb taken from a plant and is all natural, it is very sweet , so he will only have to use a very little..... you can get it at health food stores.....
