I had a one night stand with a guy friend of mine a little while ago, and I recently went to the doctor and found out that he gave me herpes! and he is only the second person I have ever slept with. What should I say to him, if anything? I've heard that some people may not even know that they have it, but I really don't know what to say.

And don't be mean please it's devastating enough finding out that I'll have to deal with this for the rest of my life.

In the first place, if he knowingly gave you herpes then he's guilty of a felony in most states now. Report him to the health department and let them take it from there. They won't use your name. Your going to have to be very careful from now on with everyone you have a relationship with.

It's to bad you weren't careful enough to use protection, like the ads and everyone states. That's how this and other diseases pass on, people like you are insensitive to the disease and have no concerns, now your going to suffer all your life.

My daughter has herpes and she's had more then several guys she went with drop her like a hot potato when they found out she had the disease. She had to tell them they never came around again. She finally found a guy that had it to.

Follow my advise and go to the nearest health center and turn this jerk in, then find out all the new meds on the market, it's not as bad as you may think, my daughter never had a new outbreak after the initial one, it's been fifteen years now.

Unless he's blind, insensitive and stupid, he must knows he's got it.

Yes, there isn't any. Herpes is caused by a virus. Actually, there is little cure for viruses nowadays. The only thing that you can generally do in the case of a viral infection is strengthen the immune system and hope it fights it off. Not with Herpes, the immune system can't win against it. Thus you only get to treat the symptoms. Once you're infected, it stays with you for life. So don't get infected.

Personal experience. I have had genital herpes for over 5 years.

I got clinically diagnosed with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about six years ago, when I was still attending college and had a stupid one-night stand. I just made a massive mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date guys again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores around her you-know-what? But since a friend shared this video everything changed https://tr.im/HERPESCure2o15S8wz

Not only was I able to clear away all traces of the hsv from my body in less than 21 days, but I was also able to begin dating once more. I even met the man of my dreams. This method provided me the opportunity to be happy and experience real love. Now I want to enable you too by sharing this with the whole World.

There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause sores around the mouth (herpes labialis) and on the genitals (genital herpes). Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Cold sores sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. They usually heal in several days to 2 weeks.
The herpes simplex virus usually enters the body through a break in the skin around or inside the mouth. It is usually spread when a person touches a cold sore or touches infected fluid—such as from sharing eating utensils or razors, kissing an infected person, or touching that person's saliva. A parent who has a cold sore often spreads the infection to his or her child in this way. Cold sores can also be spread to other areas of the body.

something like 80% of the people that carry it don't know they have it. Its very possible he did not know he had it. I'm sorry for you but I too have been living with Herpes for 30+ years.
I always tell my partners. Either they will deal with it or not.
Good luck.
If you have insurance I would check the link below. One pill a day is a good way to ward off outbreaks.

It's a good idea to tell him, because he may not be aware that he has it and he can then prevent passing it onto future partners. Also as the virus can lay dormant in your system, there is the off chance that you had it yourself prior to being with him and have only just now had your first outbreak - in which case you may have exposed the virus to your friend. Either way, it is better that he knows.

Good luck with it. Remember the virus is very common, there are a lot of people out there in a similar situation to yourself. It's hard living with the virus, but don't beat yourself up about it. Just make the necessary adjustments to your lifestyle and look forward.

Most of the answers on here are wrong. Unless he has never had an outbreak (which is very rare) he knows he had it. In men, they are very painful, so , he'd know he had it.
That said, you need to tell him. You may not have gotten it from him. You may have gotten it from the first person you slept with and are just now having your first outbreak. You actually may have given it to him!! It takes a while for the virus to build up in your body to have an outbreak.
This is a touchy situation and the best way to deal with it is to have a long serious talk with him and your first partner as well and establish a time line and go from there. I am sorry you have to go through this ,but, it is the only way for sure to know who did what to whom. You can email me if you wish. Good luck.
