Hey I'm a vegeterian for a little over a year (my family doesn't really like the idea and made me eat me for protein and B Vitamins but now that I'm older I'm fully comitted 16 yrs).

So I'm trying to cut down on the carbs for a while but I'm finding it difficult any suggestions? I looked up a veggie pyramid but its mostly legumes and carbs red beans. I'm currently at college and they have alimited menu and the college is far from everywhere unless you have a car. Only one cafeteria and vending machines and I want to stay away from the grease. Any help ?
I can't walk with lunch cuz I have labs with chemicals and it'll get contaminated.

If u click on the link you'll see my website where I have the pyramid http://www.freewebs.com/dezed/goodhomecooking.htm

Stomp the pyramid it is the diet equivalent of using leeches to cure plague. I am a low carb vegetarian. You have to go the the grocery store! Double Fiber bread, nuts, sugar free jams, peanut butter, low carb tortillas, Low carb milk, Olives, Strawberries(yes its true) Blueberries! For protein there is soybeans. Edamame yummmmmmm. Hemp protein is as complete as animal protein and full of insoluble fiber. You have online shopping at your finger tips too. Hemp shake mix is at the vitamin shoppe! Lots of foods at low carb Luxury. You can eat anything Green Have you tried sugar snap peas. Super good and easy to carry around. Salad with low sugar dressings. Xylitol sugar is recommended by dentists and doctors. Made from Birch bark. Since you can't walk with lunch eat a more filling meal earlier. Atkins advantage bars store easy. If you plan its easy. I think any diet works better if you know what you need ahead of time and set yourself up to succeed. I have bars and nuts around all the time so my blood sugar never drops. You really need to get a ride into town for shopping! If you can't go online. I lived really rural once and thats how I did everything really.
Best of luck

A vegetarian diet really isn't compatible with low carbs. The good news is that what Dr. Atkins was aiming for was people to cut back on the unhealthy carbs like white flour and sugar. The complex carbs in beans, legumes, nuts and whole grains don't break down quickly, so you don't get the glucose and insulin spikes that cause the problems.
While your system is burning alcohol it won't burn fat.

You don't say WHY you are wanting to cut carbs? BUT you would spend your calories better on getting rid of Dairy & Eggs.
Look into Dr. John McDougall's newsletter's(archives) he talks allot about the exchange & benefits. LOL You can eat a bunch of Potatoes & get wonderful energy all the while being Low Cal.

ALCOHOL is empty calories & acts like a sugar in your body.

Well most alcohol is made from grain...hence tons of carbs...

as for college food...most of it's crap, but they usually offer a salad option.

don't worry about carbs from fruits/veggies so much as those from unrefined grains/white flour etc (breads/cakes n'junk)...don't aim for an unhealthy purpetual ketosis (since you mentioned chem I'm assuming u know what that means) fruit/veggie/seed n'nut based diet won't hurt you. Take your multi vitamine every morning and you'll be fine!

stay healthy

*cheers*

Stick to the good carbs and stay away from bad carbs like white bread, cookies etc. Alcohol is loaded with the "bad carbs"
