Well, my mom is pretty much forcing me to eat meat. But I hate it. Could I be a vegetarian without her knowing? and how? PS: I pretty much eat egg whites or toast for breakfast and pack my own lunch... but dinner is going to be a problem. (NO LINKS, my computer is screwed up and I can't follow any!!!)

just everytime meat is present say "I don't like (insert particular food)" I have enough variety at my dad's house that he doesn't notice, and my mom doesn't give a crap. but since you have a different situation, i would just sleep late so that you have to grab junk food for breakfast.

It would be hard to cover up. You might be able to do it for a while but eventually they will catch on.

Why is it that they don't want you to be a vegetarian? If they are worried about protein and b12 tell them that you can get protein from seeds and nuts, and that many fortified drinks have b12 in them. Other than protein and b12, meat really doesn't do your body any good.

If they want you to eat meat just because it's the "normal" thing to do, I'd just tell them no. Honestly, it's not like they can force feed you beef every night. In the end it's your choice and there's really no way for them to make you eat something that you don't want to eat.

It's best to be honest with your parents. If they're worried about protein, tell them that even vegans get more than they need; a meat-eater gets about six times the protein s/he needs. Check out the Vegetarian Resource Group at www.vrg.org, and you can have Compassion Over Killing (www.cok.net) send you a vegetarian starter guide.

And if you can find it at your local bookstore, get Carol J. Adams' "Living Among Meat Eaters." It explains how to deal with people who don't understand veg*ans. She also has a letter to parents of teen vegetarians that might be right for you. You can also do a search on Amazon.com to find books for vegetarian teens and see if you can get them at your local library or bookstore.

You should really talk to your parents. It's REALLY hard to have a meat-less diet and not get support from your parents because you need a good diet with protein. You could try hiding food, but if they catch you they'll probably think you have an eating disorder or something.

I would just say have a talk with your parents. Explain to them that you just don't like meat.

I know a couple vegetarians but they do eat chicken and fish.

If they are worried about your protein and vitamins lost from lack of meat just explain to them that you will take a multivitamin and eat beans and eggs ot fish if you want.

Me I can't because I love meat but to each their own.

I don't think it's possible to do with out them knowing.

i really doubt that this is possible, you could easily fool your freinds, but you mum will be dificult, the best thing to do is plain and simply tell her exactly what you believe, just say plain and simply, if you give me animal, i wont eat it, i think she'll get the picture most parents are very supportive of it, if not then just keep refusing to eat the meat, simple as.

If you think you can get away with not eating meat and your parents not noticing, you better rethink this veggie thing because already you are having mental problems.
