Many years ago,I went out into the mojave desert by myself in my 4x4 truck. I failed to tell anyone where I was going exactly. Going thru some rough stuff, I ran a large branch thru my radiator, leaving a hole about the size of a grapefruit in it, breaking the fan belt and destroying the fan. No way could I repair it. I tried babying it a short distance at a time, then shutting it down. Finally froze the motor. In the middle of nowhere, no sleeping bag and limited water, a payday candy bar and some granola bars. It was really hot during the day, and freezing cold at night. I burned whatever I could drag near the fire at night and kept it going during the day I learned that rattlesnake tastes pretty good too. On day 3, I took my spare tire, sliced it to let the air out and threw it on the fire. That black column of smoke was visible for many miles. One of the helicopters that was being used in the search, saw it, and found me late that day. Never left home again without a full emergenct kit, and detailed information on where I was going.

Friday The 13th April 2007
It off and on rained ,snowed, sleeted for three days. I was sleeping in the back of my pickup with a leaky camper shell. Luckily I had the plastic sheet That I was using to cover my windshield to throw over my bed roll. It didn't work very well. The rain turned to sleet then snow . Saturday got below freezing and woke from very little sleep to an iced up camp site.
Luckily during the day I was underground.

Down in south TX. we were there end of January/early Feb 2003 doing a study on primitive cave art down there (really cool stuff.) Anyways it got into the 30's nightly, rained constantly, and the wind never stopped. We were there for 5 nights. By the end of it, all the tents were leaking, and all gear was soaked, but we had to get it done. The closest motel was over 100 mi away from the site, so we stuck it out. We can look back on it and laugh, that's what counts.

The last time I went camping was when I was about 12 years old at Pismo. My cousin and I were playing on the beach by ourselves and somehow drifted further away from the campsite. We asked another camper and they said we were on the other side of the camp. Then a cop rolled by so we asked if they could give us a lift back to our campsite and the cop says, sorry we're off duty. It took us an hour to get back to our campsite in the dark!!!

I went camping with my boyfriend and his friends.
one of them got drunk drunk drunk. We lost track of him at the nearest store. we looked for hours. He ran off with some girls or something. So finally we went back.
We were asleep and there was a camp fire outside of our tent. I wake up to hearing.. IM GOING TO KILL YOU.
The drunkie had a knife and was illuminated by the firelight.
He jumped on my boyfriend and they fought for the knife.
He eventually was subdued but it was the closest to a knife attack that Ive ever wanted to be.
I wont camp again. NO way.
