It depends on whether its underactive (gain weight) or overactive (weight loss). then the medication will do the opposite if taken in excess, like for underactive, it could make you lose some weight. Not easy to explain in this small space.

Usually not if she is being treated for hypothyroidism. Most people stop gaining weight with treatment, because they have more energy and generally feel better, so they get up and about.
If she has hyperthyroidism, or Graves disease (thin body, nervous appearing and large bulging eyes) the medicine could cause weight gain, or rather stop the continued weight loss.

It depends on what kind either hyper or hypo
I have graves disease which is hyper and did gain weight after starting meds.
before diagnoses of the graves I had lost a lot of weight so I was just getting back to normal but you have to be very careful especially because diabetes could be there too.
