Introduction:
Pomegranate juice can be used to make gelatin desserts, sauces and dressing, while the seeds can be used as a garnish or eaten alone. There is no right way to get at the juicy insides of a pomegranate, but these suggestions should help.
Instructions:
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Extract the Seeds:
Step One: Cut off the flowery end of the pomegranate.
Step Two: Score into sections.
Step Three: Place in a bowl of water.
Step Four: Allow fruit to soak for 5 minutes.
Step Five: Break the sections of the fruit open in the bowl of water.
Step Six: Allow the seed kernels to separate from the rind and sink to the bottom.
Step Seven: Discard the rind and drain the kernels.
Tips & Warnings:
A less formal way to enjoy the pomegranate raw is to just break or cut the fruit open and extract the kernels with your fingers or a nut pick.
The seeds inside the kernels may be eaten.
To Extract the Juice:
Step One: Press the fruit against a countertop.
Step Two: Roll it back and forth to break open the kernels and release the juice.
Step Three: Puncture or cut the pomegranate to squeeze the juice out.
Another method is to blend seeds in a blender or food processor, and drain the juice through cheesecloth.

AskFN: Pomegranates, though delicious and extremely good for you, require a little bit of savvy to crack open and juice. The easiest way to do it, without making your kitchen look like something out of a horror film, is to slice off the top end (the part that looks like a crown), then make several shallow cuts from north to south. Once you've made the cuts, immerse the whole pomegranate in a bowl of water, and gently break the sections apart. Using your fingers, pull the red seeds away from the white pith. Discard everything that floats (pith and peel float; seeds sink), and drain the seeds in a colander.
The seeds are great as a garnish, or, you can make juice by putting the seeds in a blender, and then straining the resulting liquid through a sieve or cheesecloth. One pomegranate should yield about half a cup of juice. To make pomegranate molasses, bring the juice to a boil on the stovetop and simmer until thickened to the desired consistency.

Like the others said, they should be deep red in color. The easiest way I found to eat it though is to break it open underwater. Fill a bowl with water and break it under there. Then just use your fingers to separate it. Doing all of this underwater works best because the yellow stuff floats so you can make sure you don't get any in with the seeds (the stuff you eat). They are SO good!

For the pomegranate - it sounds like you've already sliced it open so step one down. So far as eating the pulp goes, some people pop the seeds in their mouths and suck off the pulp and chuck the seeds. Some just eat the seeds. I usually just eat the seeds. For the mango - I'm allergic so don't eat it, but according to my book on fruits it says to first test if it ripe by gently squeezing it. It should give slightly, but not be mushy. So, if it's still too firm, you might just have to let it ripen. You can leave it in the refrigerator for several weeks or 10 days on the counter. It sounds like pitting a mango is an art form, so just slice the pulp off around the pit. You can always eat the remaining pulp off the pit. Eat the pulp from what you've cut, but toss the skin. Hope that helps.

The best time to eat one is when its a deep red color. Ther easiest way to eat one is to cut it in half and use your hands to pry the halves apart for the seeds. Wear a bib because the seeds stain.

I like to freeze pomegranates, then pound them on the concrete to open them up (be sure you wrap it in a bag or old dish towel before doing this). Frozen pomegranates taste so much better than room-temperature ones.

The colour doesn't always mean it's ripe. Eating it: best with your fingers/tiny spoon/fork and add a little salt(no joke) to improuve the flavour.
