It depends on the STD.
Bacterial STDs like chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis can be treated and CURED with antibiotics.
STDs that are caused by viruses like HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, herpes, and HPV can be treated with antiviral medication, but they have NO cure.
There are also STDs caused by parasites like trichomoniasis, pubic lice (crabs) and scabies. Trichomoniasis is cured with antibiotics (usually the drug metronidazole), while pubic lice and scabies can be treated and cured with medication containing the chemical permethrin. Medication like Rid or Nix can be purchased over the counter to get rid of pubic lice or scabies.

I've had Herpes problem over 3 years. I tried everything, of course I went to the DR. about a hundred times, probably not that many, but it sure seems like it. It never did any good for long and caused all kinds of other issues having to do with taking too many antibiotics. It wasn't until I stumbled upon the information on this site http://herpestreatment.kyma.info that my life changed completely.
I'm feeling so much better now and all of my symptoms are totally gone. I haven't had an outbreak since using that info. Best news: It works even if you’ve already blown hundreds or even thousands of dollars on conventional herpes medication without significant relief…even if you’ve been suffering from herpes for years, and even if your virus is currently in hiding and your doctor claims nothing can reach it.
I know it can work miracles for you if you just let it. See more: Shocking video reveals why Herpes/Cold Sores meds are dangerous

I got diagnosed with herpes simplex virus (type 2) about 7 yrs ago, while I was still in college and had a mindless one-night stand. I realize a lot of girls will declare this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and all of a sudden I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for my entire life. The worst part was feeling I could never date men again. After all, who wants to go out with a girl who has sores round her private parts? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/9FKBf everything got better.
Not only was I able to eliminate all remnants of the herpes virus from my body in less than three weeks, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so fortunate to write that just a week ago, in front of everybody in a packed cafe, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!! This program provided me the chance to be happy and experience true love. Now I want to help you too by sharing this with the World.

The best medicine would depend on the STD you are talking about. The most common are chlamydia and gonorrhea, these are treated with antibiotics (each has more than one kind of antibiotics that it can be treated with). However, some STD's, such as herpes and hepatitis B, are not treatable, and the person has them for life (hepatitis B can be prevented with a vaccine, but has not "cure.").

too vague a question, it depends on the STD involved
if you're talking about prevention, it's the cliched but still effective condom (next to abstinence bu that's another hot topic)
