Oh honey - I am so sorry this happened to you!!
But the good news is - your fertility is likely fine.
I would "double check" and make sure the antibiotic "cured" the infection.
Sadly, that means another trip to the doctor to get cultured again - but remember that ALL antibiotics have a failure rate.
You do not want to be that statistic and still have chlamydia (they can give you a different antibiotic if the infection persists).
Most of the time - there are no symptoms - but if the infection travels up the uterus into your fallopian tubes - they can get scarred and make it impossible for a fertilized embryo to get past the scarring (resulting in tubal pregnancies and/or infertility).
The good news?
You are likely cleared of the infection and your tubes are likely perfect.
Can't tell 100% unless a test where dye is injected in to check the tubes patency (opening).
That would not be done unless you were infertile.
I am assuming they also checked you for all other STD's since the chlamydia was positive??

People can go YEARS without knowing they have chlamydia. It often has no symptoms - that is why it is the most common (because people pass it without knowing they have it), most dangerous (because it is allowed so much more time to do it's damage) infection, and that is why it's called the "silent" STD.
Do not listen to that "medical student" guy - apparently he needs to study more on this subject.
It is VERY possible for the chlamydia to have been contracted from the rape (which I am very sorry you were subjected to).
4 months is not very long, I think the risk of effecting your fertility will be low. But to get a truly educated answer to this question, you really should ask your OBGYN.

If you have the medication and you are now being treated I would say you will not have any effects with regards to fertility.
I have patients who have gone for years with chlamydia and then they have problems with scar tissue.
Allot of people have chlamydia and do not even know it.
Sorry to hear of the fact you were rapped.
To be honest I hope you are getting some support and counselling around the psychological effects of the rape.,
Hold your head up hunny as this was never your fault.

chlamydia infection can really lead to sterility. the infection can go all the way to your fallopian tubes and leave a scar tissue that can prevent the entry of sperm or the egg won't be able to get through. ectopic pregnancy is also a possibility in case of chlamydia. but you said you were raped 4 months ago and the incubation period of chlamydia is usually 1-2 weeks. if your symptoms appeared just now i think you got the infection from a more recent sexual encounter.

First, I am very sorry you had to experience this.
Second, the effects on your fertility cannot really be predicted at this point. It is very important that you take all the medication and keep follow up appointments with your doctor. The earlier you get control of this infection, the less chances of having tubal scarring, the better your chances for maintaining normal fertility.

I'm not sure.....you should check out planned parenthood, I'm sure that they at least have some links to sites that deal with STDs....
I'm very sorry for what you went through. It happens to far too many women.
