Why dont the worlds super rich do more to save/protect precious environments like the amazon?

I think this needs a better solution than just tapping the super rich for some bucks.

It's vital we protect, preserve and promote the value of the imperiled ecosystems across the globe. Yet this will need extensive involvement on a number of levels ranging from the local and nation governments; NGOs; conservation organizations; and even a variety of non profits.

Key to this effort is not only the preservation, but educating people on the true value of these last great places. As with many other social issues, I think education about solid environmentalism is the proverbial silver bullet.

because there are a lot of politics involved with issues of boundaries and property. if for example, forestation was introduced in deserts, it would require constant security to ensure locals didn't filch saplings for much-needed firewood, just to cook the next meal.
finding a large group of people, i.e. the population of an area and having them agree on anything often produces more headaches than solutions.
..countries now are refusing the kyoto protocol because the west had an opportunity to foul things up, now they are insisting on having their turn.
the human mind(s) is a very odd animal.

Yes, why don't YOU????? If you have a NET WORTH greater than $2000 dollars you are in the top half of the world's wealth. If you are in the top half, that must surely define you as 'super rich' to the poorer people in the bottom half. So get off your arse and DO SOMETHING!
