There's a vegetarian restaurant in Rockville, Maryland, that makes a totally awesome vegan wonton soup. It has a rich broth, probably mushroom based, but I'm not sure, and chewy won tons that appear to be mostly dough, but maybe some veggie filling.

What does vegetarian vegetable soup tastes like
But

won ton
NOUN:
A noodle-dough dumpling filled typically with spiced minced pork or other ground meat, usually boiled in soup or fried and eaten as a side dish.

So are you starting out with a vegetable Wonton
WHAT is that called????

I think that traditionally it has pork, herbs and vegetables, but it can vary with the restaurants and cooks. Sometimes, the same restaurant offers different types of stuffings. For example, "Lee's Fish and Chips" here in El Salvador, offers beef, pork and shrimp as stuffings and I think there was a mixed one.

Vegetarian Won Ton uses soy based meat substitute for the pork. It doesn't taste authentic. I prefer the real stuff.

If you're really into not eating animals... it's better than nothing. (Put a lot of pepper in it.)

It tastes like crap because there is no meat broth and the filling in the wonton is pure crud. Unless you spice the hell out of the soy crap filling, it is tasteless noodles in hot tasteless water.
