How many times does this question have to be asked? Vegetarians do not eat meat and yes, that includes chicken and fish.

Vegetarian: a person who does not eat or does not believe in eating meat, fish, fowl, or, in some cases, any food derived from animals, as eggs or cheese, but subsists on vegetables, fruits, nuts, grain, etc.

"vegetarian." Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1). Random House, Inc. 05 Sep. 2007. .

Real vegetarians do not eat fish or chicken. People can call themselves Vegetarian but it does not mean it's true (which it is not if they eat any flesh)

A "pescetarian" is not a vegetarian despite what some misinformed people might say. There is no such thing as a semi-vegetarian just like there is no such thing as being part catholic.

Vegetarian will always mean not eating animal flesh. Nobody can change the meaning just becuase it suits them.

People who eat animal flesh AND plant matter are called Omnivores. You can't change the meaning of that either.

Vegetarians do not eat chicken or fish. Some people who eat chicken or fish occasionally but eat only vegetarian sometimes are not vegetarian. So, if they tell you that they are vegetarian, they are not. I am not a vegetarian. I have a vegetarian daughter. My husband and I eas a lot of vegetarian dishes and some days eat only vegetarian. But we do eat meet on some occasions. I am NOT a vegetarian. I am a vegetarian's mom and I support her habits, but I do not claim to be one becaus occasionally I do eat meat.

They don't.

Now, some people who eat fish and/or chicken may CALL themselves vegetarian, but by definition, they are not vegetarian. If I am 5' tall and have dark brown hair, then calling myself a tall blonde doesn't make it true, does it? No, because I don't fit the definition of tall OR blonde!

so, vegetarians dont eat fish. OR chicken.

People can eat whatever they want, but why would they be so eager to take the name "vegetarian?" Just because they don't eat alot of meat, or only eat certain types of meat? Good for them, but sorry, that's not the definition of a vegetarian! My theory is they take the title because it is fashionable. But they don't even want to comit to it 100% Pshh...

You are right - fish is meat, and vegetarians don't eat fish. Some, pescatarians, include fish but don't eat red meat or chicken. Octo-lacto vegetarians will include eggs and milk product but do not eat any meat. And vegans will eat no meat or animal-related products at all. To take it a step further, some people will only eat raw foods, and some will not eat seeds, fruits, or nuts (so they don't even kill a potential plant!)

Strictly speaking a vegetarian eats only foods derived from plant based matter.

There are many types of people that consider themselves vegetarian but source other foodstuffs also.

Pescatarians eat manily vegetables but include fish in their diets like the Cathars used to. The Cathars believed fish reproduced asexually, therefore it was not a sin of the flesh to consume fish.

Ovo-vegetarians eat vegetables and eggs.

Lacto-vegetarians eat dairy and vegetables.

Ovo-lacto vegetariaqns eat dairy, eggs, and vegetables, but no meats including fish.

Vegans are a whole world onto themselves.

You get the idea that vegetarians, especially in the U.S.A., can use a broad range of labels and designations and still consider themselves vegetarian.

Some people distinguish between eating red meat and white meat. I have met people who don't eat red meat but do eat chicken, pork and fish. I wouldn't really call them vegetarians though. There are different levels of how far you want to take it. Most vegetarians do eat eggs and dairy products while vegans do not. It's all a matter of personal choice.

Vegetarians do not eat fish nor poultry.

Its true, the definition being:

A vegetarian is someone who does not eat meat, fish, poultry nor slaughter by-products.

Its been that way in dictionaries for 144 years.

The rest are just making things up.

There is no such thing as semi/demi/partial/flexi etc.

You are vegetarian, or not.

If you think the fish-eater stance is mad, check out this question, she thinks you are veggie if your grandparents cook red meat and you eat it !!
