To the vegetarians out there!?

How long have you been a vegetarian and why are you? Do you eat seafood and/or chicken or are you a straight vegetarian?

15 years. I think it's disgusting to eat things coming from animal flesh. I'm vegetarian, not vegan though.
BTW, I don't eat seafood or chicken, either. It irks me when people only eat white meat and seafood and for some reason beyond me, call themselves vegetarian. Red meat isn't the only meat.

18 years - first and foremost for health.
I have since picked up on the animal rights issues, after being exposed to the culture through other vegetarians.

Can we just stop thinking of seafood and chicken as vegetables? Don't encourage others to think of them that way either. It took me some time to stop eating chicken and fish when I went vegetarian, but I did not call myself one until I was not eating any flesh.

In my case....

How long? = 2 years

Why? = Cruelty to animals, plus I wanted to be healthier

Do I eat seafood and/or chicken? = No.... because if I did I would not be a vegetarian.

I've been vegetarian since January of 2002 and vegan most of that time.

Vegetarians do NOT eat chicken or seafood. So I do'nt follow what you mean by "straight vegetarian."

I've been a vegetarian my whole life, 17 years...my parents raised me that way, it's in our cultural beliefs. Also, I don't like animal cruelty. Not saying that humans should cut out meat entirely from their diets for this sake, because if other animals can meat why can't humans...just saying that I myself don't like the idea of eating animals.

And I don't eat seafood, or chicken or eggs. When I say eggs, I mean not straight up, like boiled or scrambled. I don't bake with them either. But I do eat stuff that's made with eggs, like cake and cookies...

Vegetarians do not eat seafood or chicken. There is no type of vegetarian that eats any animal flesh. There are oxymorons out there but they mean nothing.

I'm a vegetarian for 27 years due to animal treatment.
I cannot see any reason to kill an animal to eat it.

Please do pipe down with the seafood/chicken comments.

I've been vegetarian my entire life(18 years).In the beginning,it was for religious reasons,but now I am vegetarian by my own free will.I don't eat any kind of meat.I eat egg(occasionally) and drink milk(very grudgingly because my mom asks me to),so I am not a vegan.

I have been a vegetarian for about a year, untill I turned vegan VERY recently. When I was just veggie, no I did not eat chicken, but I ate certain seafood, like clams and mussles and scallops. No actual fish. The reason Im veg/vegan is because of how animals are trated so terribly, and I just love animals

i am a pescetarian-i eat fish occasionally as i am still growing and because it is v good for you and generally fish have good lives in the sea first!
i do feel guilty about it, but im not ready to give it up yet...
ill have been vegy a year in november, and im 15 yrs old.

vegy cos i feel animals deserve better rights, dont like meat much anyway and it makes me feel a better person.
