Your doctor should definitely send you to a dietician, possibly an endocrinologist too. That might not happen straight away though, some doctors take their time and just tell you to watch your diet first.

Your numbers are too high - It's not safe for your body to stay that high for any length of time. It's time for you to learn about diabetes... Start with carbohydrates, these are what raise your blood sugar. Avoid potatoes, bread, sweet foods including some fruits, and make sure you take it easy - although exercise is good for lowering blood sugar, once you're that high it's dangerous to exercise. Don't play any sports or any 'harsh' exercise until your numbers are down. A gentle stroll will be fine but no exertion.

Can you see your doctor any earlier? I don't want to worry you but it is important that you start getting onto this immediately. If you can't get an earlier appointment, at least try to avoid all fast acting carbohydrates, go easy on ALL carbohydrates, eat lots of low carb vegetables, drink lots of water, and look after yourself. You may see a reduction in your BG with those changes alone.

How long have you been testing your blood sugar for? If you've been steadily climbing over a short amount of time you could possibly have type 1. This is unlikely, but still a possibility and worth looking out for.

Chances are good you're a type 2, which means you may find good control for a while with just diet changes and some exercise, (and medication with numbers like yours). In time you may need insulin, but most people find they can go years - if not decades - without insulin if they are motivated to make the right changes. (Of course if you do find out you're a type 1, you'll need insulin straight away - don't worry it's really not as scary as it seems!)

Do note that the diet changes can be short term - you only need to keep off the carbohydrate foods until your numbers are back to normal. Once they've leveled out you can start adding a little carb and keeping an eye out for which foods are ok and which ones aren't. Those that aren't ok for you can be saved for days when you've had lots of exercise and/or eaten lower carb.

There's a lot to learn, but you'll be fine once you get the hang of it :)

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

With the newer types of insulin these days, diabetic diets aren't necessarily as restrictive as they used to be. Read here https://tr.im/rRaPg
As with any medicine or diet change, you should discuss it with your doctor. Fruits, both fresh and dried, have a natural sugar in them that will raise blood sugar levels, so be careful about eating too much. Not sure about the nuts. Moderation is always the key. I've been diabetic for 18 years and just recently changed insulin types. I love it because it gives me more freedom in when and what I eat.

Your blood sugar is too high. If you are taking medication, expect to have some changes made in your drugs and or doseages. If you are not on medication, expect to be put on medication. You didn't mention your diet, but you should be following a diabetic diet presribed by a doctor, so ask about this when you have your appointment. I would suggest you call the doctor and let him know that your sugar has been running over 300mg/dl. Perhaps he can see you sooner than Friday. Good luck.

Most likely you are.Dr. will want to put you on oral Meds first. Stick to your diet and make sure you excercise twice a day. Also you might want to research a fruit called Bitter Melon. This has been known to lower the blood sugar it has for me. You can find this in an asian Market. My surgar levels always were 211 or more they are now 140 or less. Make sure you stay hydrated with your H2O very important! Hope this helps
