I am assuming if you are young enough to be having baby, you probably have type 1. You will need to monitor your glucose levels carefully during your pregnancy, and also breastfeeding, since your caloric intake should be higher at both times. But it can be done. You can't pass type 1 on to baby, just the pre-disposition to developing it. Type 1 is an auto-immune disease, which can play out many ways. So just listen to doc, keep a tight watch on sugar, and best of luck to you!

Diabetes is a disease in which your blood glucose, or sugar, levels are too high. When you are pregnant, too much glucose is not good for your baby. Out of every 100 pregnant women in the United States, between three and eight get gestational diabetes. Gestational diabetes is diabetes that happens for the first time when a woman is pregnant. Gestational diabetes goes away when you have your baby, but it does increase your risk for having diabetes later.
If you have already have diabetes before you get pregnant, you need to monitor and control your blood sugar levels.
Either type of diabetes during pregnancy raises the risk of problems for the baby and the mother. To help reduce these risks, you should follow your meal plan, exercise, test your blood sugar and take your medicine.
Babies born to mothers with diabetes do not come into the world with diabetes. However, if the mother’s diabetes was not controlled during pregnancy, the baby can very quickly develop low blood sugar after birth and must be watched very closely until his or her body adjusts the amount of insulin it makes.
Extra large babies are more likely to become obese and to develop Type 2 diabetes later in life. They especially need to develop healthy eating and regular exercise habits as they grow up to lessen the chance of obesity and Type 2 diabetes.

Diabetic patients can lead normal lives.

Diabetes runs in families but there is no assurance that a child born to diabetic parents will become a diabetic himself.

Yes, you can concieve, you can breast feed. You will have to be monitored more closely and probably the baby will inherit the genes making he or she more prone to developing diabetes. Just do what your doctors say and you should have a pretty uneventful pregnancy.
