For me, it's very hard to find any thing purely vegetarian, even just chicken or seafood is not easy. The cuisine has alot of beef, pork or beef & pork products (broths, stocks...).

For most non-Koreans it is an acquired taste. BBQ is all right and a few others but you might want to steer this person around some of the harsher flavors. I have a friend from France who says that Korean food tastes like puke so that if you actually puke THEN it would taste good. Go slow at first and don't shock this person's taste buds.

I love Korean food because it is spicy! I used to work for a Korean company and they would take me out to eat all the time to Korean restaurants.
The small plates of food that they serve before the meal are delicious. Since your friend is new to the cuisine I would suggest the beef short ribs and pork or even beef bulgogi and dolsot bibimbap
Soju is also pretty good. It will knock you out pretty fast. The Koreans liked to party.

I love it! I am Korean though, so I am used to the flavors, ingredients, etc. When I take my non-Korean friends to eat at Korean bbqs or other Korean restaurants, they generally like the food. I usually suggest something that isn't too spicy, otherwise, they might get runny noses. But suggest your friend try something new, and if s/he likes it, then you two have found another commonality.

Yes, I love Korean food! Kimchi, seafood soup, soups with red bean paste, Korean bbq, bulgogi...I'm an adventurous foodie, I appreciate foreign cuisine. I like Korean food because the ingredients used are fresh (mostly) and it's healthy and spicy (I gravitate towards spicy foods).

Love it. I live in a cold place and Korean food is hearty and satisfying, and kimchi is cheap to make, delicious and healthy. Nearly all the ingredients grow in our garden. I've only eaten in a Korean restaurant once unfortunately. There aren't many in this part of NZ.

I like it very much as well as the kimchi that koreans serve it with. I'm asian though so I might have a different preferential taste versus other cultures. I also like the dipping sauce, the red bean paste, the garlic and the lettuce that you wrap it with. It's a fun treat.

I enjoy Korean dishes especially the BBQ feasting; there is a good variety of marinated meats to choose from: the expensive deungshim-gui, anshim-gui, bulgogi, dwaeji pulgogi, deodeok-gui, galbi-gui, etc.
The fun part is watching them being broiled at your table, savoring the aroma, wheting the appetite... and it gets better... there are also many other accompaniments to enjoy as you wash them down with cold barley tea or beer.
Eating Korean style is a thoroughly enjoyable experience; for the uninitiated as well as for the connoiseur... "jal meokkesseumnida"

I LOVE korean food! Topping the list is Kimchee, which I could eat everyday! *smiles* MY other favorites are JapChae, Bulgogi, YakiMondu, Bean Sprouts, Cucumber Kimchee; and there is some kind of dumpling that I can't remember the name of.....I think it's Daikon? or something like that.
I'm sure your friend will have a wonderful experience, I wish I could trade places with him or her. * smiles*
Bon Appetit!
