NO. This is a myth. For a start, it is not that simple. There are two different types of diabetes. Type 1 is an autoimmune condition where your body basically destroys the pancreas and so produces no insulin. Insulin must be injected or pumped in. The cause is unclear but it can be triggered by a virus. Because of a process called ketoacidosis, you are going to be under rather than overweight if you have this type of diabetes. You lose a lot of weight and you are really thirsty all the time and pee a lot.

Type 2 diabetes can be triggered by being overweight but is not caused by it, otherwise all overweight people would have it. You also need to have a genetic predisposition in your family to develop it. And being overweight is caused by overeating generally, not only by eating chocolate or sweet foods. In Type 2, the pancreas produces some insulin but it is either not enough or not working effectively. This means it can be treated by diet, or sometimes tablets, at first.

So if you have either type of diabetes, and are undiagnosed, eating anything would make your blood sugar higher and make the situation worse. Chocolate is actually not as bad as some other foods because it contains fat. Sugary drinks or jelly sweets for example are absorbed faster. But just eating chocolate on its own CANNOT cause diabetes.

No. An inability to either produce or to use insulin causes diabetes. Chocolate usually has a lot of sugar in it. Sugar raises the blood sugar and if a person is diabetic the blood sugar will take much longer to come back down to normal.

Eating chocolate does not cause diabetes. Seriously, this is total nonsense. People, get your facts straight and stop perpetuating myths.

ONLY if that is all you eat!!! But it is likely to cause a number of other things first.

Chocolate is a vegetable and must be eaten daily in very small amounts! It is the vegetable that keeps most of us sane! Pure natural sugar only need apply.

No. As a matter of fact dark chocolate is now considered to be good for your health.

The disadvantage of eating chocolate is the fact that it may cause weight gain.
