I recently found out I have HPV. I haven't had my coloscopy yet, but my doctor believes I may have genital warts.

I've been with my boyfriend for 3 years and either of us have had signs of warts.

If my doctor does find warts on me, what does that mean for my sex life.

Should I continue having oral sex?
I don't want to pass the warts to my mouth or his.

HPV (the virus that causes warts) can be transmitted by oral sex, however, it's VERY rare to develop warts in the mouth or throat.

Condoms and dental dams can HELP prevent spreading the virus, but unfortunately they are not always 100% effective. The only thing that is 100% effective is abstinence.

Since HPV is a skin to skin contact virus then having any kind of direct skin to skin contact with your genital area can cause your boyfriend to contract the virus from you, even if condoms are used.

Continuing to having oral sex or not to have oral sex is a personal decision that you and your boyfriend need to make together.

75 - 80% of the world will have HPV at some point in their life. It is extremely common! Good luck and take care!

don't freak out! i found out that i had hpv about 4 yrs ago.
after that the doctor said i had condyloma as a result of the hpv. i've had a wart or two, but it was no big deal. alot of people who have genital warts never even see them. you may not ever even see any warts. i've never gotten anything on my mouth so far. i know it's overwhelming right now. but, don't get depressed!

If you were diagnosed with warts and you're having intimate contact with your boyfriend, I suggest you have him check too. He probably has warts too. From then avoid oral sex and start to be medicated to control the spreading of warts. LOLz!
