Are you serious? the pepperoni grease is animal fat even if you take them off.

I'd listen to Beebs and Shellbell. It's not, strictly speaking, vegetarian, but nobody's going to judge you for making the best of an undesirable situation. Stick to your guns and maybe the next time your folks will only get pepperoni on half the pizza. :) I went veg at 16 and for the first few months, I felt OK about eating around the meat. After awhile this will probably become unacceptable to you, but for now just do the best you can.

I used to explain the pizza thing (why I wouldn't just pick off the pepperoni and eat the rest) in terms of a food allergy because they could understand that - if I was allergic to something in the pepperoni I wouldn't take the chance of eating the grease left behind. I've met a few people who didn't understand vegetarianism and thought that was just weird, but at least they understood what my limitations were.

Well, its certainly a start and shows your commitment.

However, thre are a couple of problems.

1) The meat will have contaminated the rest of the pizza.

2) The act of buying the meat is what killed the cow, not the eating it.

So, full makes for trying to stick to your morals, the next step is to ensure no meat is bought for you.

I'm sure you'll figure it out - life is a learning curve.

best of luck with it

If YOU don't mind, then no body else should. Its not like there are veggie police out there waiting to bust someone. Its all a matter of what you are comfortable with. Since you are still under your parents rules, its not likely that you had much choice-so you did the best you could. Don't worry about what anyone else has to say about it. Your choice to remove the pepperoni, rather than eat it, was your best option at the time. Dont worry about following a bunch of rules that may not work for you. Do your best, and when you are older and on your own, then you can make more informed choices. Its a shame your parents don't support your healthy decision, but stick to your guns, kiddo-you will be healthier in the long run.

I don't think anyone is pointing a gun to your head nor is there some Pagan God reeling that you experienced a natural state called hunger and - your parents - the providers bought a pizza and you had to pull the pepperoni off of it to maintain your privileged vegetarianism lifestyle. I'm sure there are plenty of kids in 3rd/4th world countries that would chomp at the bit to have your opportunity - or simply just eat the pepperoni that you discard.

Give us a break.

eh...

I mean, if there was nothing else you could do, then I guess that's the only choice you had.

Personally, even the meat fat disgusts me I could never just take meat off of something and eat it.

But if it's a problem between you and your parents not liking your decisions, then you should really sit down and explain it to them. Have a dietitian explain it too, if you need too. If it's the protein intake they're worried about, there are plenty of other options, like milk, yogurt, cheese, beans, legumes, tofu, even some bread products...

Yes it's ok. Just do the best you can and don't stress. If you give them an excuse they can understand like - pepperoni is just too spicy or fatty. Some people get migraine headaches from pepperoni pizza- at least that's what a friend's dr had her give up while they were trying to figure out why she had headaches. Overprocessed deli foods are in no way healthy but I know it[s hard to get one pizza that everyone in the family will like. Maybe you can add your own mushrooms, olives, peppers, onions, pineapple or tomatoes. Offer to make pizza for your family and then you can make yours anyway you want.

I personally would not eat the pizza. After all, you can pick off the meat all you want, but the greasy residue is still on the pizza. Yuck.

Its really up to you. If you don't mind the animal grease that was left behind on the pizza, then sure its fine. But by eating the pizza you're supporting the meat industry, which defeats the whole purpose if you're vege for animal rights. Because even if you throw away the meat, the demand for it goes up since you bought it.

It will still taste like it has pepperoni's on it. YUCK! It's still going to have the grease on the pizza. That means it still has meat on it to me.
I wouldn't eat it but you are you. I wouldn't because I don't see it as being vegetarian. You do what you want though.

If you took the pepperoni off it's not pepperoni pizza anymore. It's cheese pizza.
