I'm with "sue". Cold cut and vegetable platters are just the ticket. A low cal dip would be nice, too. I don't care if there are diet sodas or not as long as there's some bottled water. Not only will your diabetic friend appreciate it, your other guests might just benefit from it. A diabetic diet isn't just for diabetics... it's good for everyone... especially those where is runs in their family.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.
Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Just have a variety of snack foods - your friend will know what they can or cannot eat that day based on what his blood sugar numbers are that day. A diabetic can eat the same things everyone else does they just have to be aware what their sugars are, balance it with insulin coverage that day, and be sensible. Everyone needs to treat themselves now and then and the diabetic diet isn't as strict as it was when I was younger - there's room for anything - with thought!
The thing that I really always appreciate the most is having diet drinks and water because that's not something I compromise on --- some snacks and food metabolizes slower and easier to work in what I'm eating for for the day - not having a diet soda around is a bummer.

It's really nice that you are cognizant of what your friend needs, but I'm pretty sure he would tell you to just serve what you want to serve. Be sure to have some sugar-free soft drinks there, but otherwise, let your friend deal with his diabetes. I'm diabetic, as is my nephew, and most of us are perfectly capable of deciding how much of something we can eat (or can't). The notion that a diabetic can't have ANYTHING sweet is false; we just have to adjust our insulin to allow for it. We "splurge" occasionally, just like anybody else; as long as the insulin is adjusted to compensate, it won't harm us any more than it would harm anyone else :-)

Make sure you have some sugar free snacks and drinks for him to have too. He can still eat chips and dip and the like. We always keep those Crystal Light to go packets around our house so that our friend can drink it. Hope that helped. Good luck.

some diet soft drinks , maybe kool aid made with a sugar substitute. Your friend can manage most other foods unless its all heavy in sugar. chips, dips, fruits, vegetables are all good. For desert the sugar free jello is good.
I would not bother with the expensive sugar free ice creams , they dont taste that good. He can have normal foods, but he just eats less of them .

Sure why not!? If you friend want to control his/her CARBS, they can eat and drink too! No coca-cola unless it's Coke Zero.... etc... The Carbs the diabetic eats controls and maintains their life style and sugar levels!
Chicken wings! Chicken, burgers! Steaks, cheeses, meats... No milk items (these have HIGH milk Sugars!)
Follow a low carb diet, like South Beach style.... and lower fats....Anything with high protein, low carb is great! Low carb beers (Miller Light, Michelobe Light)... any clear alchol with diet mixers - and NO sugar works there!
No bread (or little bread).... no chips, all low carb alternatives for your friend and I think you will do good!
I hope that helps!

have a nice cold cuts platter, a nice fresh vegetable platter and a fruit platter with accompanying dips. I so appreciate people who don't have all heavy carb stuff. Diet drinks, sparkling waters, etc are nice as well.
and not only for your diabetic friend. Bet a lot of your other friends would appreciate low carb platters as well. Most of us have a perceived weight problem.
