Type two diabetes is not a virus. There are no odd reasons for it. It comes from having a genetic predisposition for it and lack of knowledge on how to take proper care of your body... i.e. poor diet, excess weight, and/or lack of exercise. The more you know about it, the more you do to prevent it, and the more you adopt a diabetic's lifestyle, the better your chances are of completely avoiding it.
Coping with stuff is entirely up to you.

First thing - be as close to him as you can be! You *cannot* catch diabetes, it's not a virus or bacteria or anything like it.
Second thing - if it runs in your family then you may well get it yourself. Type 2 diabetes, which is what he probably has, does have a genetic component and tends to run in families. So it's probably worth learning as much about it as you can, for the sake of other members of your family and, potentially, yourself your children, your grand-children, your friends and everyone else. Type 2 diabetes is a common disease and I wouldn't be surprised to find that you know a number of people who have it without you knowing about it!
Third thing - Diabetes is a difficult disease to manage, especially if the diabetic is. or becomes, insulin dependent. Your help and support will be invaluable to your uncle. Give him all the hugs you can and feed him well, which means stay away from the junk food!
Fourth thing - Whilst type 2 diabetes does have a genetic component, you can minimize your chances of it effecting you. Keep your weight down and steer clear of junk food and the like. Fresh fruit and vegetables and proper cooking - throw the packet mixes away!
On the weight thing - as a rough guide, take your height in inches and multiply it by itself then divide that answer by 28. If you weigh more than that, loose wight! If you divide by 32 then that is your ideal weight.
For example, if you are 65 inches tall, 65 times 65 is 4225, divide 4225 by 28 and you get just under 151. So anything over 151 pounds will increase your chance of getting type 2 diabetes, and the further you are above that, the bigger your chance gets!
Good luck to your uncle and the rest of your family. I'm an insulin dependent diabetic myself and my heart goes out to you all.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

If you're eluding to the notion that a virus in your food causes diabetes, then you are highly mistaken. Diabetes comes when your body doesn't produce enough insulin or doesn't utilize it at normal levels. If you're worried you're going to catch diabetes from your uncle then you need not worry because its not possible to spread diabetes. I am not too sure what you have to cope with because even for your uncle, diabetes is very treatable and if he takes care of himself he can live a very long time. Most people that die from diabetes are bad sick patients which means they don't exercise, don't eat right, don't take their insulin when they should, etc. I know several people with diabetes and I love them dearly and I as a pharmacist have no problem being around them. Diabetes is a disease the person who has it has to deal with and manage it. Hope this helps, wish him good health.

The only thing that will worry you is that you have a strong family history of diabetes mellitus and nothing more.
You have the very high chance to develop the disease because you already had that in your blood. It is not a virus thing on. And you won't have it out of sharing foods with any one of them.
Just stay in a healthy habits, keep your daily exercise running, and since you have a strong family history it is still not bad to eat sweets however in controlled volumes. Have your fasting blood sugar checked once yearly.

Cant catch diabetis. You get it from resistance to the insulin you create in your body. Over weight, or issues with your pancrease!
Seek a doctors help, get regulated! Control your diet. Purchase a meter to test your blood! You can have a normal life as a diabetic IF YOU control your blood sugars!

Quit thinking of it as a disease you can "catch" like the flu!! It isn't anything like that. It is NOT a virus from food!! It has mostly nothing to do with food, overweight or anything like that.

James is right my dear, but, I say many things change as modernization occurs, you stay away from worries and stress, and be happy for what you are, head to your doctors advise and thank your Creator. It is nothing but reaction to what we eat and do not digest through vigorous exercises.
