I was thinking it's because the aorta extends into the abdomen but then again, I also heard that aortic aneurysms pulsate too. I've had this sensation since I was a kid though so I'm wondering if it's normal. I never learned about it in school even though I'm now a nurse. Just like some knowledgeable input. Thanks.

Yes normally you can feel the abdominal pulsation on palpation, deep palpation is required in fatty subjects, in thin lean it easily it is felt. it is palpable anywhere between epigastrium and over the umbilicus.
Well every kid is enthusiastic about his abdominal pulsation, it's international observation by kids.

Since you are a nurse don't forget to exclude the transverse colon in spasm. Exclude it as it will not match the Heart rate.
It's perfectly normal.

An AAA would other associated symptoms (tearing pain, back pain, LARGE pulsating MASS -- not just a pinpoint area).

If you are particularly thin this is easily felt.

Nothing to worry about.

Yes. Totally normal. It's normal to see it too. It's not normal when there is severe pain, you feel weak and your stomach bloats...those are sigsn of a triple A, but you'd probably drop dead before you even realized it.

Oh it'll go away alright, along with a lot of the sensation in the tip of your penis.
