What do you mean by keeping it?
You mean it is actually producing, but not releasing insulin?
If you can't get insulin in your blood, you'll have to take artificially created one or else you can die.
Insulin regulates blood sugar levels, and it is vital for our life.
YOu should have a doctor check your pancreas, perhaps it is possible to do something with it.

I'm a Type II diabetic, non-insulin dependent. There a several things that can happen in your body that will warrant a diagnosis of diabetes. If, in fact, you are not getting any insulin from the pancreas then the only option I am aware of is to inject insulin into your body. That would make you a Type I diabetic. There is an inhaler that offers some relief from the needles but it isn't applicable in all cases or conditions and there are reasons some people can't use it. For example, there are at least two types of insulin and the inhaler only offers one type. Additionally aspirated insulin may be hard on the lungs so people with any sort of lung problems probably shouldn't use it.
I have endeavored to answer your question as completely as possible. My concern is you have not asked the question you really want answered. Don't worry it happens sometimes. Diabetes is a very serious condition. The effects of diabetes cause more deaths than AIDS and Breast Cancer combined. I want you to know that I accept email at my profile and if you care to be more specific I will be happy to answer or research any other question you might have about the condition.
In closing I think you should also know many Doctors are not as well versed on this beast as they should be. It is important that the Doctor you see for your diabetes is aware of the latest developments. I am fortunate that I have a good Doctor and even more fortunate that I can access him relatively easily. Some of my friends have said I am something of a crusader, perhaps even a paladin, and I am at your disposal.
