Keep it simple and prepare well in advance so that your not flustered. Try some anti-pasta for starters and a spaghetti bolognaise or cabonara with a salad and crusty bread for the main meal followed by some nice ice cream for dessert. All washed down with a bottle of wine. To much heavy food will have him asleep in no time believe me.

Do a main meal then a side and dessert:
main meal:
get pide from the grocery store, warm it up in the oven and put meat (eg get a 1/4 bbq chicken and put meat in it) and veggies like sliced tomato, lettuce and cheese and fresh herbs but no cucumber. cucumber and bbq chicken is no good.
side- do a soup, like, not too condensed. get canned broth or powder asian soup is good because it is light
dessert-ice cream toped with fruit in a glass pretty and yummy and easy
hope it works

I think it started out healthy and went down hill.
The melon plate sounds great for dessert, Spaghetti carbonara, with garlic bread, a really fresh Cesar salad.
Keep it light. Heavy food and love do not mix.
Oh yes a really nice red wine. I love a really good Sangria with citrus (one orange and one lemon or lime) sliced in it.

Sounds fab - i love chilli - how about making deep fried mushrooms with a garlic mayo dip for starters - would go better with the chilli for after.
Of course cheesecake is the best........... has to be mandarin though.
Enjoy your meal and rem the after eights for after.

This is a daft wquestion as you are the only one who could possibly know what would impress/thrill /make him happy. Thesimpl;e answer is what does he like divided by what you can cook divided by what is he worth. Answer:
beans on toast followed by more beans on toasty followed by a yoghurt. Washed down with a fine 1987 Coca Cola.

Your meal sounds good & if you both like it then go for it, save a little time by buying a good cheesecake for desert so you don't have to spend time in the kitchen after your main & get some really good strawberries too.
Have fun

I'd skip that melon plate. That is girl food. Make him a garden salad with croutons and a choice of salad dressings.

there are a thousand great thing you could make and its hard to say without knowing what he likes. one important bit of advice though, don't try anything too much out of your capabilities, you don't want to ruin it (speaking from personal experience) and if you are doing three courses make 2 that you have already prepared fully and can just be taken out of the fridge / put in the oven to serve. you don't want to spend your romantic evening in the kitchen. oh and don't make it too heavy, in case there's romance afterwards!

It depends what kind of things he likes and how good you are in the kitchen. If you want something more basic then how about fillet steak or spag bol with prawn cocktail or mussels for starters and tiramisu for pudding. If you are more adventurous then I would go for something like Seabass for main with vegetables and boiled or duchess potatoes. (If he likes fish of course that is).
