its the vinegar in the sauce that gives it that tang,when they say sweet and sour it is not quite worded correctly cos the sour is acidic not citrus.

'Cos it is made of pineapple juice which is highly sweet and vinegar which is sour.

Crisps are Salt &Vinegar at the same time, for the same reason.

Different parts of the tongue pick up on different flavours, salty, sour, sweet, bitter, pungent and astringent.

it just does..the real one from scratch is lemon juice, orange juice, sugar, ketchup and soy sauce..

the crappy version at Panda Express and other wanna be chinese places use vinegar..eew..
