Yes, it can be very dangerous. The infection is cause by bacteria making their way up the urethra and into the bladder... from there they can continue up the tubules into the kidneys.
You should get it treated. Also, it will become very painful if it is not already.

If you don't see a doctor for it, it could spread to the bladder and kidney. It is still possible however to get rid of it on your own if you drink a LOT of pure cranberry juice, and water to flush it out--provided it hasn't gotten too bad. If you are in severe pain, or if you see a pinkish tint in the urine (indicating blood), you have to see a doctor for antibiotics. If you don't you WILL regret it.... guaranteed!

Extremely-the infection can spread into your kidneys and damage them or into your bloodstream and make you very ill or even kill you. Spring for the doctor visit and antibiotics hon.
