How do you get HPV? I heard that you get it from direct contact. I was with a girl the other night. She rubbed her crotch with her finger, and then rubbed her finger on my lips. Could this transmit the virus?

Are there any chances that any other STDs could have been transmitted? I am sure that it rare, but any help would be appreciated. I didn't open my mouth at all.

There are about 200 different types of HPV.
They can be transmitted easily, and 75% of adults have them at some time.
There is some thought that the same HPV that causes cervical cancer, could be causing some types of oral cancer.

According to the professionals, 96% of HPV transmission is through sexual contact, verticle transmission which deals with transmission from mother to newborn, Horizontal transmission which deals with children of sexual abuse. Other pathways which is the area of your concearn; Possibility of non-sexual transmission, e.g. contact with infected or possibly infected urogenital secretions from sharing towels or bathing together. There to date has never been a documented case. One can pass HPV orally which has been known to cause throat cancer. You seemed to be somewhere in the middle of the other and oral transmission. So I would be concerned enough to get tested. You proboubly will come up negetive. I believe it is better to be safe than sorry. If you come up negative, take the vaccine if you can.
