If you do get some sugar-free chocolate desserts just be sure to watch how much you eat as the sugar alcohols (ending in -ol like sorbitol) can cause diarrhea, gas, and abdominal pain.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Yes, there are many "diabetic" chocolate items in the stores, however, they often contain just about as many carbs as the "normal" ones. Make sure to read the labels. Just because they are sugar free, doesn't make them any safer for the diabetic.
As a diabetic, and a parent, I know that I just enjoy watching my child enjoy the things she is eating, and I don't always miss them. I can always make allowances to my diet and medication, and then eat treats, however, I choose not to. I would feel horrid if I thought that my child felt bad. She does not need to miss out on the good stuff in life because of my diabetes. It is my disease, not hers.

I think it was the type 2 that made me used to want so much sweets--now after being away from it I am not desiring it, but I would have a sugar free coco, if the desire over took me. So far I struggle with getting satisfied from smaller portions and radically different food. But I am on the road to health and believe me I've seen what happens to uncoontrolled diabetes and with a relative, she suffered with the kidney fairure and blindness and thats just scarey, ok----I will avoid that by being senible, and pray. Chocolate ain't worth it.

go to a health food store and ask about carob. I don't know what it is but is taste very similar and my diabetic friend eats it all the time. Also ask about candy bars for diabetics. You can also have Dad talk to his doctor. Maybe he can have just a taste of the real thing occasionally or the doctor can recommend something similar.

They do have sugar-free food items including chocolate for those with diabetes. Please do have him check with his doctor though.
I wonder if the American Diabetic Association has some suggestions too: www.diabetes.org You seem like a very kind and caring person to be thinking about your dad like that :) And kindness shows a level of intelligence in a person.

yeah!! they do, but it is totally icky. I have a very small piece of dark chocolate with regular sweetening about once a week. It keeps me sane!!
My endo said to have a tiny piece of chocolate cake once in a while. Being deprived is equivalent to going crazy. And that we should not make ourselves crazy. He said to have the dark chocolate sorts, but very small pieces infrequently.

They do have sugar free chocolate but you still have to be cautious about eating it. It still has carbs. But even a diabetic can have the "real" stuff as long as he includes it in his carb count and then he won't feel so left out and you won't have to feel guilty. Check with his doctor or dietician for help on this. But I have sweets every so often with no ill effects.
