If you have diabetes type 2 and taking pills, check your sugar before and after eating. You have to eat after taking your pills because if not, once the medicine take effect, your sugar is going to go down and you will sweat and be confused, very very hungry seems like - anything you put in your mouth will be good in taste, and worse, you might collapse if didn't get remedy. It is called hypoglycemia - very very low blood sugar. Always have candy in your purse for the "just in case".

When your sugar is above 140 - it is called hyperglycemia.
When your sugar is below 60 - you have hypoglycemia
The blood sugar will not stop going down until you are very very sweaty and lethargic. (at this time, your blood sugar probaly is in the 50s and below-and it also depends on what you are doing at the time.)

What could go wrong if not corrected at once (hypoglycemia) you might collapse.

If I get this way, I have low glucose readings, and I take diabetic candy or just drink a coke. I have type 2 diabetes.

Sugar too high or too low. I do it with both high and low. Best to check with glucometer and make sure, then you will know what to do. Too low, eat something sweet, or drink orange juice. Too high, call dr. and watch your carbs and sugar intake next time.
