Hi Butterlicious

The colon. If your colon is bunged up, it can start to cause all sorts of health problems in the body. Eat lots of fruit and veg, include plenty of fiber in your diet and buy a colon cleanse from a health food store or online if necessary. It's also good to get some colonic irrigation. It makes you feel so clean inside and you get the urge to put only good food in your body after you've been cleansed.

1. Drink at least 8 glasses of water, herbal tea or unsweetened juice each day
2. Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper
3. Eat every two hours, by having healthy snacks in between meals. Eating frequently increases your metabolism.
4. Eat lots of fruit and veg.
5. When having potatoes, rice or pasta, just have a small portion.

1) Eat at least 5 servings of different fruits and vegetables every day. Don't eat any junk/snack type food until you've had at least 5 fruits/vegetables.

2) Stick to whole, unprocessed foods such as whole grains, beans, fruits, vegetables, nuts. As much as you can, try to eat foods that don't have a brand name! So, for example, eat oatmeal (you can buy oats in the bulk bin of most grocery stores) instead of Honey Bunches of Oats.

3) Eliminate partially hydrogenated oil and high-fructose corn syrup completely.

4) Drink a gallon of water instead of soda. If you really want juice, make it a nutritious juice, such as orange juice. Apple and grape juices have very little in the way of nutrients.

5) Minimize animal products, especially fatty ones, as much as possible.

Best of health to you

I would buy a puppy book to help you out the rest of the way. There is a good book from Sarah Hodgson called Puppy Perfect. She teaches you new things that you can do with your puppy for every week. Every week = something new to learn! It's a good book to help you out. I would also invest in a book on your specific breed--either the Labrador or Great Pyrenees, or both. These specific breed books will tell you what a Puppy book will not--breed specific tricks to training. To help stop the Barking-- I wonder if he has any toys in his kennel? If he doesn't have any toys (safe toys that he can chew on without supervision) put some in there. If you haven't already been putting him in his crate while you're at home, do that too. Lay a blanket half way over his crate. For every time he yips, give him a verbal warning of any kind ("ah-ah" "no" "quiet") in a firm tone. Turn to do whatever you need to do, and if he yips again, give him that warning and cover his cage. He might bark and whine, but ignore this. Until he quiets down you can uncover his cage. Just repeat this. At night, if he barks, just keep him covered all night. You can give him the choice to not be covered at first. That should eliminate most of the barking, but if he does bark, you'll just have to ignore it. Leaving him in his crate for 10 minutes to an hour while you're at home will also help eliminate the possibility of separation anxiety when he gets older, or just the simple need to bark/whine because he's locked up. You can even drop a few pieces of kibble/treats in his kennel while he's been in there and behaving well. He'll enjoy his kennel space more if it's a rewarding, happy place. Toys, treats, ect... :) For Biting-- You should only lightly grab his muzzle for every time he bites and say "no bite" or yip, then get up and leave the room. If you were playing with a toy with him, take that toy with you. This teaches him that if he bites, you won't play (and you get the toy). Do not go back to play with him for at least half a minute. You can even just stand up, look ahead/away from him, and wait for the 30 seconds. Good luck!!!

To deal with the gas problem you can take OTC Over the Counter) Simethicone (ANTI FLATULENT). It is for SERIOUS GAS, like you described and usually comes in a chewable tablet (Mint Flavored) Don't confuse this with Maalox or Tums as they are completely different and will not work as well. These are completely safe with no drugs or side effects and you can take up to 8 tablets in a 24 hour period.
I had the same problem and as it turned out I had developed a Dairy allergy that gave me horrific pain and gas.
A change of diet and this Simethicone made a WONDERFUL change for the better!

people who are lactose intolerant do an awful lot of tooting.
are you having too much dairy?

also, sugar free products that contain artificial sweetners can send you to the moon, lol.

we all swear by papaya and acidophilus, but there are generic anti gas chewables at the pharmacy that help too.

if it's cabbage and beans you fancy, try beano. it really works.

good luck.

Buy activated charcoal, it is available at health food stores. It sounds gross, but it works to absorb the gas in your stomach. It comes in a capsule and was recommended by an internist.

I found that when I stopped drinking milk, that helped. Then I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast. Guess what happened?
