What exactly is your question? Can you develop diabetes in a matter of months?
Yes. I did when I was 8 years old. One day I was fine, then over the course of the next 30 days I lost lots of weight and was constantly thirsty and therefore using the bathroom a lot, even several times a night, and bugbites I had seemed to last a lot longer. I got tested for diabetes and from then on I've been taking shots every day, and that was like 12 years ago.
For type one, you can develop it at any time, usually when you're younger, because of a genetic propensity. For type 2, you can develop it at any time, but usually when you're older (above 40), it makes itself known more slowly, and it's due to certain lifestyle patterns and in some cases a small amount of genetic propensity.
EDIT: WOW reading the answers above me I can't beleive how many people are miseducated about diabetes. That's really dissapointing.

Craigs love has it right. My son has been diabetic for 22 years, so although not an expert , I know a bit.
You don`t get diabetes because you have too much sugar, although this exacerbates the condition.
I was admitted to hospital some years ago and the guy in the next bed had been admitted after falling off his bike, and his blood sugars were in his boots.
The nurses on the ward were giving him glasses of milk, because he didn`t like tea or coffee, and fruit juice or Vimto because he couldn`t drink plain water, and they wondered why they couldn`t stabilise his blood sugar levels.

Of course you can. Diabetes can quietly sneak up on you and you never realize it. Have you gained weight? Are you eating a lot of junk food? Does it run in the family? And last but not least, are you having symptoms? You know, the 3 p's. Polydipsia--unusual thirst, polyphagia--unusual hunger and polyuria--frequent urination. Go back to your doctor and get tested again if you are concerned.

I have diabetes, and i will tell you that it definitely can happen in that time but don't worry about it. if you learn how to handle it its not that bad. but if your really thirsty one day don't eat sugars that will make it worse. go see a doctor and ask what the chances of getting diabetes are and tell her about your worries. i hope it all works out..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having diabetes can be hard to diagnose without knowing when and what you ate last.

For a simple answer, yes, it is possible. If you are extremley concerned about it, you might want to watch how much sugar you are eating.
