I read in Isreal they think after a study of normal men your blood sugar should be 85. I just got mine down from 535 and the diet is tough but doable. I was hoping I wouldn't have to add excerise yet as my knees are still bad at my present wt.

As a diabetic myself, I have questions based on what you've typed. Are you Type I, or Type II (I'm assuming II)? Is AM first thing in the morning, or after meals? If first thing in the morning, not as good as after meals... Also, don't know when you are testing - are you testing in the morning, and two hours after each meal? Are you getting the 103 at all times, or are you higher other times?

In the US, 80-120 is "normal" and they'd prefer your fasting morning to be 80-90. Sounds like you're doing well, but there is always room for improvement. Keep in mind that your scores aren't the only things to watch - how your body works and feels is important too. You may have more issues with feet problems, for instance, than other people - you will always have to be careful to listen to your body, check it regularly, and hightail it to a doc when something's wrong.

Down from 535 is amazing by diet - and yes, the diet's tough! Medication, weight loss and exercise can help too though... Good luck, keep up the good work! (:

As a diabetic and a nurse, I say that 103 is perfect. Exercise is great but it does not have to put wear and tear on your knees. Sit in a chair and move your legs up and down. Make circles with your arms, walking slowly is a wonderful exercise and don't let anyone tell you different.

With readings below 110 i would emphasis weight reduction. You do not need to impact your knees to get exercise, but you will want to eventually. Sitting in a chair lifting weights, pushups, swimming, walking all are good exercises that shouldn't hurt you knees. low blood sugars without exercise is very difficult to maintain over long periods.

103 is good. And congratulations! But there are exercises you can do without putting extra stress on your knees. Water aerobics is great and shouldn't hurt. There are upper body exercises that you can do and even short walks will help and shouldn't stress you too much. Good luck.

your blodd sugar should be below 100 and that is normal. if you were 500 that is bad i am glad you got down further this time. 103 is ok but you hve to get lower and keep it up and check often take care.
