Will taking an ice bath, affect my body or blood sugar in anyway? I have to do it for sports. Theres a full body bath in a tub. And just for the legs in a garbage can full of ice&water. I'm just wondering if there are any medical concerns, because diabetes affects more than just blood sugar, such as eyes and teeth. So help? (: OH. I have type one diabetes.

I also posted this on the regular Health section. But I want to try this section cause it might be more of a help specific(:

An ice bath? No. It will not do anything to your blood sugar. If you start to shiver, that is exercise, but if you are an athlete, that is pretty mild exercise. You will be fine. I am glad that I don't have to take an ice bath.

the only thing you need to be extra careful about because of diabetes is that you can still feel you feet and any injuries that may occur. I'm guessing you are young and would not have neuropathy, but in general people with diabetes should check the bottom of their feet daily for any cuts or injuries. Unnoticed sored could get infected. I'd look at feet after each practice/game. Otherwise, no problems I could think of.

There may be a chance of the cold affecting your blood sugar. You should really call your doctor and ask this question. That way you get an informed answer from a medical professional.

Well it won't affect your blood sugar specifically, but being in extreme cold temperature can put you at higher risk for frostbite.

Doing exercise is more likely to affect your bloos sugars than taking an ice bath.

I am not sure why you would need to freeze your feet. I don't know how old you are either, but if you have circulation problems due to diabetes which affects your feet, do not use the ice bath. That could impair the circulation more and cause major problems.

Please check with your MD on this.
