Guiness is not vegetarian, as it is fined with isinglass, a gelatin made from the swim bladders of fish.

A number of beers and wines are fined with isinglass or egg whites or even gelatin--pretty gross, huh? But there are vegan alternatives to both.

No vegans should not drink Guinness. Unfortunately, because it is the yummiest beer out there. Ahh a meal in a glass!

Guinness is not vegan, as it uses isinglass*, which is a by-product of the fishing industry, a fining agent for settling out suspended matter in the vat.

*Isinglass is a substance obtained from the swimbladders of fish (especially Beluga sturgeon). Used mainly for the clarification of wine and beer, it is a form of collagen.
