Well, most people think type 1 diabetes is caused by eating too much sugar, and that you cant eat sugar after you are diagnosed ever. But they are full of crap because I am a type 1 diabetic and I never ate very much sweets and now I eat about the same as most people.
You COULD say that eating sweets COULD cause type 2. But thats only because obesity can cause type 2, and sweets make you gain weight.

Myth #3 Eating too much sugar causes diabetes.
No. Diabetes is caused by a combination of genetic and lifestyle factors. However, being overweight does increase your risk for developing type 2 diabetes. If you have a history of diabetes in your family, eating a healthy meal plan and regular exercise are recommended to manage your weight.

Sugar in itself does not cause diabetes. But the weight you can gain from all the sugar in junk food can make you more likely to get it. Some of it is genetic and the other is being piggy about junk food.

its already in the genes and if you hae family that has it you will have it or sometimes it does skip a generation but not too often. you can't get it by simply eating choc and sweets if you we're not diabetic you could eat whatever and it would never come.

whatever you eat sweat or anything...only thing, you must consider will be,
everything is depends on 'how perfect, your pancreas's ability to produce insulin' and 'how ability your body can respond to the insulin'.
( Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar (glucose), starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. )
- the older, you become diabetes type2(your body responds little to insulin)
- the disorder, you must born with is diabetes type1(pancreas has little or no ability to produce insulin)

The medical community isn't real clear on how one develops Type II diabetes. There are several indicators that seem to increase risk; eating a lot of sweets is one of them.

Type 2 diabetes is one of the fastest growing health problems in the western world, and it's caused by our terrible diets. If you eat too much bad food, there's a terrific chance you'll end up diabetic.
Type 1, or insulin dependent diabetes, is the type you're born with.
