A wired ball mouse or a wireless optical mouse. Well let's break it down.
Wireless vs. wired. One draws energy from the computer, which is drawing energy from the wall anyway. The addition of a mouse is a fairly small additional draw for the computer. The wireless mouse requires batteries, that have to be produced, transported to a store, and then either recharged or replaced.
Wired is better.
Optical or Traditional? The optical mouse will use far more power than a standard mouse, but it's performance is lower. If you are a hardcore gamer or a digital artist, it may be a necessity, but it's all a matter of priorities. If you want to be supremely green, browse a thrift store or freecycle for a pre owned wired ball mouse.
If you need the extra performance, use the same sources to look for a wired optical mouse.
And finally, the next time you're looking at a new computer, consider getting a laptop which is more "green" than a desk top and does not require the use of a mouse at all.

If you are going to get a wireless mouse get one with the charging stand. Those little tailless rodents eat batteries like crazy! Other than that I recommend reading any power consumption data available on the particular models you wish to buy. It is probably on the outside of the box ... in really small print.
If you want to clean up clutter on your desktop (the real world one) you would be better off going with a wireless keyboard and a hardwired optical mouse. I don't know why, but wireless keyboards take a lot less power than wireless mice (does the little red light use that much power?).

Wired takes energy from the computer and wireless requires batteries. Eventually the batteries will die and need to be replaced. When this happens you just create more trash(both from the production of the battery and the disposal of it).
Get Wired!!

Whichever will last the longest is the more green of the two; I'm guessing it is the wired ball mouse

A wireless optical mouse is recommended
but with dead batteries you have to dispose them at the proper places.

If you get wireless you should get a rechargable battery (more economical and ecological)
