Hi, I live in socal, and my response is Petrillo's Pizza. Theres one in the san gabriel valley. It is one of the best pizza places in southern california

CPK(California Pizza Kitchen) has a pretty delicious pizza, but I'm not sure if that's really italian.

Olive Garden has an okay pizza, but i wouldn't say its actually italian.

There's a place nearby where I live called Bella Italia, I had the pizza there- it was pretty good. It also has legitimate italian food.

Basically, if you want a good italian pizza- go to an italian restaurant(run by italians hopefully), or go to italy.

The only way is go to Italy, but if you are asking for the "real italian taste or style" is not so simple. Most italians prefer pizzas just topped with tomato, cheese and some basil. The base is always thin and they don't have too many ingredients to choose, just prioscuto, salami, olives, anchovettes and so on, forget about pineapple or jalapenos

real italian pizza is located in naples..and sorry, but the pizza is not so good cos it's authentic..that is to say, it's made the way it should..as peasants food! really, the base is awesome, but then its just tomato puree and a bit of cheese.
Go find out how to make pizza dough (flour, yeast, water) then i would say essential italian ingredients are concentrated tomato puree, basil, buffalo bocconcini or mozzarella, olives, anchovies and pancetta or better yet prochutto

If you have any local restaurant that has a brick oven grille, that will be way more authentic...Or even at Olive Garden, their pizza's are real Italian...Do you have a Big River Grill close to you, they have a brick oven as well.

What makes pizza real italian?
I've had so many good pizzas but never thought about what was "authentic italian pizza"
I guess my favorite so far was Geno's East in Chicago. (but after a night on Bourbon Street the slices in the pizzerias are so good!)

Well i have heard that the true italian pizza isn't very good...one of my friends is from europe and said that they have it all the time but they would never think about puttin all the toppings on it like the americans do....he decided that he loved american pizza much better than his traditional italian pizza

Venezia style pizza is the best. Thin crust, almost like pie crust, good smoked meats. Can't find it in the US. In Mexico we slice a bolillo roll in half, load it up with Jack cheese, salami, green pepper, toast it and hope for the best. Pizza shops here are lame.

Go to Italy - else - come to Australia - lots of great Italian places here (especially Melbourne... and you might even run into the Chair Wizard III incognito)

Going to Italy is not THE solution since even there not all Pizze are great... Try out small,Italian-family run Pizzerias in your home-town but avoid by all means "famous" chains!

Rossario's in St. Louis, but I'm not sure what happened to him. Another good place is on the Island of Sardina off the toe of Italy.
