I used to work for a physician and always questioned him about that. He just shrugged his shoulders and said that is the way it has always been written. It almost sounds like you are supposed to swallow it, cough it up and save it for the evening. LOL It is funny!

You can take one tablet twice daily by mouth. okay back to the point, it means totally two tablets a day.
