Any kind of floor ceramic tile will stop the conduction of the heat. To be on the safe side, use 4 decorative tiles grouted to a piece of plywood, that would be used over and over again. Frame them with wooden slats backed with plywood and hang them on the wail as decoration when not in use. ( of course you may need more of these tiles, since they are smaller )

you can always buy a little rug or a place mat. Those work for me. but sometimes you gotta approach the problem differently. I assume somebody knocked the shisha the the coal fell over? this is usually the case that leads to crop circles in the middle of your living room. what you need to do is take a large piece of foil and wrap it around the head, but leave the top open. sort of like a soda can without a top. this way, simple bumps dont make the coal crash land on the carpet.

Run to the local home supply store and pick up a tile - kitchen or bathroom, it makes no difference as long as it is large enough. It works the best and it should not go off kilter on the carpet.
