Any medical word with the suffix "itis" means an inflammation of the noun. Bronchitis is an inflammation of the Bronchi. The fact that they are inflamed, indicates that an infection is present and it is possible to pass the infection to other people by droplet infection. (minute droplets of liquid in the breath, coming from the lungs, passing the bronchi and expelled onto the air when breathing / talking)
Hope this helps
